The Lapauw self-contained ironers are designed to maximize heat transfer within the unit.  By eliminating the need to circulate heated oil or steam from an external boiler, the unit makes heat transfer loss a thing of the past.  Improved efficiency is also achieved through the innovative low-volume chest which allows for a faster heat recovery and faster heat transfer to the linen.

The primary energy necessary for heating a self-contained gas ironer is 18% less than that required for a similar Lapauw steam ironer.  Over 30% energy savings can be expected over conventional rigid chest steam ironers of the same size.  These figures do not even account for the heat lost during transfer from an external boiler!
